i was trying to find out about applications or testing done in reference to the stratellite a few weeks ago. The equipment talked about here could be deployed on a stratellite, but doesn't have anything to do with the stratellite. I was asking the wrong questions. Reading between the lines on the PR, it sounds like a fancy-nancy webcam with IR capabilities and a data stream via wireless.
I will search again with my contacts, this time i will know what to ask about; the first info leaked about it was pretty vague. (which is not unusual for Huff & co.)

many are working on improving the IR fire detection gig, but the imaging advances versus communications advances that GTE are testing is still not really clear... Martian sensors and Hotzone downlink, not sure which brand of cereal box it will be advertised on... and they are not alone in trying to work on bettering fire detection.
