It's very USEFUL in science as a tool. Math oddly matches a lot of natural phenomena that we observe. Butt math is a human construct. It is an artifact - an invented language.
Yes, I see what you mean. I think part of my point stands, though. All of what we consider "knowledge" is interrelated. Many hard sciences wouldn't exist without math. And what about Hawking? Do you consider him a scientist?
