Most private schools probably have rules against carrying weapons, and some may call their rules 'zero tolerance'. The difference is that most private schools show some intelligence in how they carry out these rules. Most public or private schools would probably have warned her about having the knife and possibly suspended her. Keeping her from graduating for having a knife in the car was stupidity on the part of the school.
