In June of 2012…. after the failed attempt to sell the company…. and our stock price was in the low 20s ….Intel decided to just buy certain patents/families…. rather than take the whole thing. They even continued to send a check to IDCC for use of the co-developed Infineon stack (last quarter our total technology solution revenue was $1.4M, down from $3.5M last year Q1)
to this day some wonder why…they or others…never even made a hostile bid?
Were they all just waiting to see if infringement could be proved?
All these companies have slightly different business models in how they want to use non-silicon patents…. I'm not so sure that they can derive the same value as IDCC can... as a stand alone.
