I can think of a number of reasons for his actions. Other than self delusion, which is the most likely.

he's a lawyer.. he knows his mullets, he sees some are actually capable of starting lawsuits.. hes has to justify his huge money suck so he wrote a letter with the usual lack of specifics and evidence.. if he had anything hed post the names of these mysterious brokers.. he's scammed you just like UC did, but then that never seemed like much of a challange.
