$MJNA "Medical Marijuana Inc. OTC $MJNA and Puerto Rico legalization of CBD Hemp Oil"
Kannaway, a portfolio company of Medical Marijuana Inc., is an active voice in the re-introduction of industrial hemp and introduction of proprietary formulations of hemp cannabidiol products to the global marketplace. In September of 2014, Kannaway hosted their first press conference and live-networking event in Puerto Rico. The innovative hemp-lifestyle, network marketing company wrote a new chapter in Puerto Rico’s and the U.S.’ history by becoming the first to offer all-natural hemp oil botanical products with cannabidiol (CBD).
Following Kannaway’s successful regional event, the San Juan Star’s front page headline proclaimed “PR Poised to Phase in Medical Marijuana - for Medical Use Only”. The article went on to state, “Kannaway, LLC is now operating on the island, riding on the so-called green rush and studies showing that the products will become a billion-dollar industry.” As Kannaway’s Director of International Expansion, Edgar Montero, describes it “ we have finally introduced hemp oil botanical products that will not only benefit countless people, but the entire economy of Puerto Rico.”
Kannaway’s success on the Island swiftly sparked a national conversation among officials, politicians, doctors, and the people of Puerto Rico. On May 7, 2015, after a meaningful public debate, Governor Alejandro Garcia Padilla signed an executive order authorizing the use of medical marijuana in the U.S. territory. Incredibly, it only took 233 days from Kannaway’s successful launch on the island before the Governor of Puerto Rico officially passed legislation legalizing medical marijuana.
Governor Padilla himself said, “We’re taking a significant step in the area of health that is fundamental to our development and quality of life.”
Puerto Rico’s announcement adds to the growing momentum of cannabis legalization and decriminalization in Latin America and the U.S. The company has projected economic development and job growth in South America and Europe could expand the organization by 150,000.
