Free, that's a very valid comment regarding not knowing whether everything isn't already priced into the stock. You're right that you really can't know. You can only hope to guess better than the average.
In a stock market where there are both people who trade on chart technicals and people who trade on fundamentals, the flip side is also true. Assuming TA works, how do you know the next person's TA software isn't slightly better or can reach slightly further into the future than your software? Those circumstances could make your TA software a liability to you.
