Interesting articles.

Ive seen the first one before.
Its not 3D, at best stereoscopic with glasses.
Only unique thing about it is the round display surface.
(Think of a ball shaped TV screen, still flat).

The second link shows a new technique for producing holograms,
but they seem to be static (ie: non animated).
