Not only was there never any shorting here, but, now that it is stuck on the grey market for good, shorting is prohibited, and MM's can only match trades.

Can't get a new CUSIP either. FINRA would have a good laugh at the attempt, though.

All that needs to happen is the company needs to file for a change of CUSIP and ticker symbol at the same time

FINRA isn't going to approve any corporate actions, so you can write off that fantasy. They wouldn't approve a fantasy dividend either.
