April 29, 2011 Mind Technologies All Set to Bring its Revolutionary EEG Headsets to the Market By Deepika Mala, TMCnet Contributor
There are many companies today that are working rigorously to develop technologies that satisfy the needs of various sci-fi fans. One such company is Mind Technologies, which offers software for thought-controlled technologies, which allow the users to interact with the computer and other machines through the power of the mind.
Involving the use of a wireless headset, the technology detects brainwaves on both the conscious and non-conscious level. Computers, through this revolutionary neural processing technology are able to interact directly with the human brain. Mind Technologies currently creates medical applications and video games that are controlled by the power of your mind. Recently, the company has provided an update to shareholders on the progress of its EEG headset currently in development. While there are other so-called BCI (brain-computer interface)/ EEG headsets currently on the market, Mind Technologies, Inc. is all set to develop and manufacture a new, user-friendly EEG headset that would eliminate the need for wet sensors. The new BCI would be designed in a way that a user while wearing it won’t stand out from the rest. It will also offer the most reliable, consistent results. While still a few months from being fully developed and manufactured, the initial feedback has been overwhelming. "The approach taken by our team of scientists has been nothing short of revolutionary," stated Brent Fouch, CEO, in a press release. "Rather than mimic the current market and make improvements in cosmetics and minor functionalities, our team went outside the box and created completely new concepts in both design and functionality," concluded Fouch. Patent searches have been concluded and the patent process is currently underway, as the prototype and manufacturing logistics are being resolved. It is believed by Mind Technologies that the newly created BCI will be the industry standard for developers and research scientists in the near future. In related news, Mind Technologies, Inc. announced that after passing the criteria needed and extensive review process, Mind Technologies' applications have been approved for sale on Emotiv's website.
