I can't see Apple not using the CMM patent to produce the gold Apple Watch. It allows them to truthfully market 18k gold (% by volume) while making the casing around half the weight (much lower density) of a pure LM gold alloy casing.
What I *can* see, however, is Apple coating/plating/overmolding this ceramic "core structure" with a LiquidMetal finish, in the case that the CMM material does not yield the desired luster.
In light of this patent, solid amorphous casing to me now seems highly unlikely.
