Once Current Buyback is Executed, InterDigital Will Have Bought Back Almost Half of All Shares Ever Outstanding
WILMINGTON, Del., Jan. 28, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- InterDigital, Inc. (Nasdaq:IDCC), a mobile technology research and development company, today announced that the company's stock will be added to the NASDAQ US Buyback Achievers Index. The Index is comprised of United States securities issued by corporations that have effected a net reduction in shares outstanding of 5% or more in the trailing 12 months.

InterDigital has a very strong history of returning value to shareholders, through a variety of means including buybacks, a regular dividend and special dividends. Currently, the company is executing on a $300 million buyback authorization announced in June 2014, at which time the company also doubled its regular dividend. Upon completion of the current buyback authorization, InterDigital will have repurchased approximately 50% of all the shares of the company that were ever outstanding.

The NASDAQ US Buyback Achievers Index is tracked by an ETF with the ticker PKW. The addition of InterDigital to the Index will be made prior to the start of trading on February 2, 2015.

Gungrey: During the past five years IDCC brought back 9,310,000 shares. However, because of 2,969,000 stock grants, outstanding shares only went down 6,341,000 shares.
