The tortoise beating the hare only works if the tortoise continuously moves forward and the hare stops for a nap.

Untrue....

The hare can become preoccupied or distracted by a different directive along the way, hence taking the focus off of the original task at hand.

Victory to the continuously moving tortoise....

Who never took its eyes off the prize.

I agree that their product will be very expensive. Price over competitors is what Kim needs to promote going forward if he wants to compete. He also needs to start actually getting the silk out there to build up some hype and demand. I worry that if he does not, other companies may surpass KBLB and I will be out a few years retirement as will many others here.

You really do not get what Kim is doing if you make statements like this.
There really is no more selling at this time, that part is over. There may be some exceptions but KBLB already has signed agreements (NDAs)with several companies in each of the textile areas. What he is doing now or will be doing is proving he can supply and meet the demand of the companies. Also creating enough of the materials so they can develop prototypes and test.

The next phase is when they get the big engines running (India,Vietnam,etc..) and start pumping out 10 to 30 tons a quarter. Then you will see all of the companies named and Deals revealed.

I believe the proteins will ultimately have a much larger variety of applications as it is worked with, but I agree that silk fibers are the obvious starting point.

You could be right. But that isn't the real issue in an economical endeavor. Kim has stated the polymers are in his sights too. It comes down to information we do not yet have from any camps yet. We can only make educated guesses at this point. No one seems to be able or willing to argue against KBLB's probable pricing being cheaper. History is on our side, and that should be reassuring.

Hey, the other day you stated something about it taking 5-6 weeks for a silkworms life cycle to produce a cocoon...and days for the ecoli process. You are probably aware that they stagger the egg hatching so that they have production every week. The limit is according to space you have. If you have enough space, theoretically you could get cocoons daily. I don't know if that happens, at least intentionally. But if the economics are good enough, I could see it happening.

You have to like KBLB's chances for fiber and the proteins. We don't yet know where the researchers for solid proteins are getting their supply....some of them may have stated silkworms. This should be an indicator.

Also, it looks like I misread the amount of money they got, it was not 500 million yen, it was 2.5 billion yen (~$16 million USD).

Looks like they made new shares. (from google translate)
"For the digit system built propulsion, is a third-party allocation of new shares at October 31 date, we have raised 2.55 billion yen.
Innovative research and development promotion program (ImPACT) starting"

It isn't possible to value as the number of shares doesn't appear to be in the pdf file. So this answers how they are funded, but it doesn't answer how much dilution. Yes, it is going to be extremely expensive. They don't believe they won't be competitive. It could be a case of maintaining current value of shares, but if the process isn't competitive, being well funded means you simply have more to lose....as an investor.

The tortoise beating the hare only works if the tortoise continuously moves forward and the hare stops for a nap.

KBLB is getting funding and looking for additional production, as well as continuing to fund current obligations. If we were simply talking a race, then this statement works. If the hare isn't merely competing in a race...and he also is competing for a cheaper method of production...This is a race won according to the economics of that production, not getting to a finish line. They could get to the finish line faster and still lose the company.
