Well, unfortunately it would appear that the corruption culture has been engrained in the Panamanian society for a lot longer than the 60's. It would almost appear it's a way of life there.

I'm sure some of the regimes have been worse than others, but the outcome is the same IMO. A general distrust of the government and people there. The history of Panama being a haven for illegal drug trafficking is another black eye.

I now firmly believe if PTQ had been run by anyone besides a local character like Fifer that Shareholders would have been much better off now than we are.

I'm not belittling the people there, but the ruling class have certainly put the country in very bad light. I wish I had known that before sinking a nickel into a local company.

To add to what I said earlier. Remember how the Jock Sniffer always lied to the premise that because PTQ was a "Panamanian Company", it would always be around and flourish there. That was complete BS. When you're not paying your employees for their work or the government for their gold payments then you have problems.

The people running the Panamanian government only care about getting their money IMHO. Anything else is secondary, including national loyalty.
