oldberkeley--I am not against all GM seeds. I wish I could find the link, but they are coming out with or working on a GM seed that will help rice to not absorb arsenic. That is a huge problem in China and even in Arkansas and Louisiana where chicken farmers have had feed with arsenic in it and that arsenic has got into the rivers and streams and is irrigated into rice paddies. That arsenic in chicken feed was stopped recently as well as Tyson, the biggest meat packer in the world, is no longer using antibiotics in chicken feed since the health eating movement has brought out that too much antibiotic in our system in any form weakens our immune system.

I might add that arsenic in rice is not as big of a problem as the media makes it. Rice has high amounts of IP6 that dissolved heavy metals. IP6 is also known to fight radiation, maybe a coming problem for California flowing from Fukushima. The anti arsenic in rice crowd when they look at rice in the lab look at the arsenic in rice, but ignores the IP6.

The GM I am against is any that allows the use of Round Up. There have been no long term testing of it on humans. I understand that one is going on now, but if Monsanto or it's allies is involved it will have no credibility. Eating poison has it's long term affects on the human body. Alcohol is a poison and felling high or drunk is the bodies reaction to that particular poison. We put all kinds of concoctions into alcohol to make it taste better. But long term heavy use of alcohol can be devastating for many.
