AND THIS, my friends, is why you dont invest in things that you do not know...15 feet from the patient is WRONG...its typically 5-10 feet and in the vast majority of situations there is an FA, PA, resident, Fellow, or Attending at the patient site during the ENTIRE procedure. I know of ONE facility where the console is outside of the room, and its a DaVinci lab specifically designed to have people in and out to watch and ask questions (proctoring). I truly do not think you know what you are invested in LTG...you dont know the field or the market well at all. The slice of the pie that Surgibot could get is so minute and growing even more minute by the day, that it's almost comical. As older surgeons are phased out and retire, you will see even less LAP surgery. The vast majority of residents now need and WANT robotic training, not lap training. I know countless new robotic attendings that have trouble with LAP procedures because they dont do them enough. You really need to get a grip bud and realize that the ceiling on Surgibot is so low compared to SPORTs.
