yep. just wasn't his night. I don't care if the pitch he threw A-Rod in the wheelhouse was 100 MPH, it was toast. The mistakes to Giambi and Posada were uncharacteristic as well.

Nobody can be at their best every time out. Doesn't seem like anything to get too worked up about until/unless he strings together three or four bad outings where he struggles with location.

Speaking of which, IMO the killer was that he had zero control of the splitter and so didn't use it when he normally would have. The count to A-Rod is an example of where a Schilling in command of, and confident in his ability to locate the splitter, would certainly have thrown that pitch instead of trying to simply work a fastball in.
