I agree. Most info and articles out there on 4k state little content only on Netflix and amazon and 25 mbps minimun. This should be what separates ntek at least in the short term. I think even with limited content if the raised awareness and offered monthly subscriptions and the app does appear 9n theses sets there could be increasingly huge revenue potential. I hate to sound negative but the disappointments are hard to swallow
Well, what is meant thousands have been signing up for Ultraflix with accounts.....from there they can modify their account. What is important is that many are signing up and even if only renting one item a month....that is still strong revenue. What is also important is that Ultraflix is increasing platforms for Ultraflix at a very fast rate and with the increase in 4K TVs that is all in our favor. Again, just a small portion of the market is huge.
Lets look at this another way, shall we? Are you familiar with Sony, Samsung, Vizio, LG, Hisense, Panasonic, JVC & Toshiba?
[] 5 of them streamed UltraFlix @ CES2015 [] 4 (Sony, Samsung, Vizio & Hisense) advertised the UltraFlix Network (pictures have been provided as proof, along with PR's, CTO Interviews, etc.)
[] Those 4 (S/S/V/H) constitute ~90% of the UHD/4K TV market. (according to my DD)
They each do BILLION DOLLAR BUSINESS & are Trillion & Billion Dollar companies: Would you say they have revenues for marketing, advertising, promotions, social media & awareness campaigns?
Why are we here: 15mm in Global UHD/4K TV sales
When will we be here: ~220,000,000 Yearly UHD/4K TV Sales ~600,000 UHD/4K TV Sales per day (essentially replacing the 1.5B Global TVs that have a 7yr turnover rate; according to industry experts )
Are you suggesting that NTEK STOP PORTING, Acquiring UHD/4K Content, Remastering/Rendering, Making Original UHD/4K Content &/or Developing the UltraFlix features, options & user interface/experience in favor of PUTTING RESOURCES INTO PROMOTING UHD/4K TV Sales?
Or working on their product, letting the majors do the heavy-lifting & concerning themselves with marketing & promotions AFTER NTEK has been ported EVERYWHERE (including tablets, handhelds, mobile, computers, laptops & ALL OTHER 4K-Enabled Devices)?
Are you suggesting that NTEK stop working towards tomorrow's FAR LARGER GROWING UHD/4K Market in order to divert resources to acquiring the 8mm or so U.S. UltraHD/4K owners & potential customers (as a MORE EFFECTIVE strategy for Market Penetration)?
Maybe it is me that doesn't get the BIGGER PICTURE.
Thanks in advance for the clarity...Glad we're having the conversation.
FIRST, I would not aggree witht he claim that everyone understands NTEK's potential
SECOND, it wasn't long ago that 4K TVs were thought a gimmick to go the way of 3D TV
THIRD, I don't believe everyone understood how history repeats & that NTEK may be viewed as taking a page out of it; namely, the MASSIVE WEALTH & GROWTH strategy of Mark Cuban when SD (Standard Def) was transitioned to HD (High Def)
FOURTH, the Gaming-Labs business will be HUGE. Aaron Hightower (IGT, patents) & Stephen Reisenberger (EA Games, Midway, etc & patents) have that industry down-pat. I honestly don't think it really impacts CEO Jeff Foley much at all.
Besides, now that HVEL has been announced I am THRILLED we have that money-maker going to another shell & with its' own share structure to fund on-going licensing, expenses, royalty negotiations, more product development, etc..
So, it appears as though NTEK CEO Jeff Foley already thought that out & is handling that transition as we speak.
Similarly, Aaron Taylor was hired from Roku where he built BrightSign. So the Commercial Nuvola Models, ProFlix, & whatnot are clearly businesses he can not only handle but has SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE & a successful track record. Again, no sweat off of NTEK CEO Jeff Foley.
As to UltraFlix: Blake Brown, Carl Bellitti, Phil Foley & others also put little to no pressure on CEO Jeff Foley.
"LX" Rudis is running "4K Studios" & oversees both San. Fran. & Hollywood/SonicPool operations. The guy is extremely bright & very capable. He's got it. Again, no sweat for NTEK CEO Jeff Foley...
Much of these business divisions are part of being vertically integrated. Part of how NTEK has been able to leverage what they can do to put themselves into the position where ONLY UltraFlix & Netflix were shown being advertised @CES2015 with FOUR companies that represent ~90% of the U.S. UHD/4K TV Market...with more on the way.
PATIENCE...& BUY THE DIPS!! That's my motto here...
And, just to be clear..."4K Adoption" IS IN QUESTION when you have only 15mm Global UHD/4K TV owners & a 1.485BILLION UHD/4K TVs yet to be bought...
It has been every bit a part of EVERY POST of mine in response to your commentary. Why? Because although it is GREAT THAT YOU think it is coming (& that I may too) it hasn't yet...
Unless the question is suggesting NTEK ought to be out there pushing UHD/4K TV Sales, we aren't into yet at DAY ONE of the REAL TRANSITION when 220,000,000 UHD/4K TV sales are made each year & 600,000 UHD/4K TV sales are made each day of the year all across the world.
