#14464 RE: oddone33320 #14463

Funny glass half full or half empty, I took the Temp Update as good news, I mean after watching the Gig polymer get tested against the (then current) protocol I thought the numbers looked pretty good to me, here is a paper on those results, obviously what they thought at the time wasn’t what the industry needed. It sounded to me as Lightwave went to company XYZ and ABC and they said give us these numbers and come back, so they did and they put out a PR, but I could be wrong. See they cannot win if they give an update as to where they stand they get criticized for not waiting and if they wait , then they get criticized for not telling where they are. Just saying obviously they cannot please everyone.

And yes I want it all and I want it now but this is super-duper complex science that as we have all witnessed will have a moving target, it is what it is, complex, science with changing requirements. IMO that is why Lightwave finally said we will make our own device. Some folks took that the goal post moving as lying, others thought they just plain made it up and yes some others believed what they said.

Here is that paper and remember these chromophores were packaged in hermetically sealed $1200 containers (if my memory serves me properly) purged with nitrogen.

IMO I Think that Lightwaves polymer has Many, Many advantages that simply cannot be ignored, do they have EVERY answer nope, but IMO with the current push to Optics we will partner up with someone fairly soon. Shoot the Bleached mod is a 300 million dollar opportunity and that is peanuts. When (not if) Lightwave inks some sort of partnership agreement worth just a few million bucks thrown at it the share price will jump. Just my opinion.

Oh and Ducky I agree that there could be better communications it just seems that EVERY time they put out an update it doesn’t satisfy what the investors want to here and it tanks. Again until it is either a done deal everyone is so worn out from 10 years of Science trial and error that when folks get what they ask for they get Pi$$ed of and complain. Just an observation.

I think we’ll get there but again I thought that 9 or 10 years ago when I left for Alaska (vacation) but obviously that didn’t happen so don’t put any weight in my timeline shoot I have never even built an Optical Modulator or even and Electo optic (2nd order) polymer, I tried to take that Opsis chip design seminar but I was lost after the first ten minutes, LOL.

Oh and Walter I just saw your post, as I understand it you are correct the Opsis chips have nothing to do with the Bleached waveguides however the combo polymer may possibly be used in both. I'm hoping the Opsis delay gave them time to finish the clean room (JUST HOPING) because that must be done for the Opsis chips to be juiced and hopefully some SixSigma type QC on the Polymers may have (JUST HOPING) been completed to replicate consistently the materials from one batch to the next, if that is they have decided on which Corning/LWLG Molecule to use.

I guess, yes, You guys are correct an update like that would be nice but I can here the folks 2 days later, we need an update, LOL.
