Concerning your comments about HG. I think you are right about him. Just look at his last form 4. He exercised 15,000 options and kept them. These options were to expired on 9-21-2003. Most likely these options were granted on 9-24-1993. These options were vested on 9-24-1996 and he held them until now when they were due to expire in a few months.
