If it is such a valuable patent, why is this dude bankrupt? That is the value in telling a "personal background" story.

So you are saying Thomas Volpert single handedly came up with something the 5000 Google programmers, the 3000 Facebook programmers, the 2900 HTC programmers could not come up with. Think about how much technology has changed since 2001. Do you really think something one guy who went BK with his previous company came up with 13 years ago is better than anything invented in the last 13 years by the legions of genius programmers in Silicon Valley. I have my doubts on that.
