Yah.
3D Printing is useful for two reasons:
1) as an actual final product
2) as a replica of the final product you can hold in your hands,
physically fit to your model, etc etc

The downside of 3D printing is it literally takes hours to print off anything small, and is very error prone.

3D visualization is an intermediate step to 3D printing, which is itself an intermediate step to physical manufacturing.
