Most states require that you be registered. California is not really a state anymore. It is more like a nuisance.

In the state of MO and many other states you must be certified to serve on the GJ. You are not selected in the same way as ordinary jury duty. Most GJ members in most states are certified through an application process and may sit on multiple GJ hearings in a year.
