longball
I have no idea where IDCC will be within a year from now. IDCC has made a strong effort to convince the street that future success is in the bag, but the street is not buying it now. WM may be correct when he states that Nok is not just about Nok and Samsung with respect to day to day operations, goals and accomplishments. However, the willingness of the street to look forward and apply generous multiples is apparently all about Nok. Our base has moved up a few ticks on the basis of LG, but the street belives we are still running uphill in our effort to secure the future sufficiently to capture their focused interest. IDCC will remain in the show me mode until Nok is through playing hardball.
The big wireless players are playing hardball with threats of standards deviations and design arounds the guise of disgruntled operators. The real truth is that the operators will remain unaffected. The OEM's who have built their company values on the basis of incredible margins are fighting to the end. Threats of price increases will not be near as effective as the OEM's think.
