I don't expect Apple to go into the furnace business, GTAT business plan is too far from their expertise. Bankroll an in-house sapphire company, maybe, but not furnace production.
Actually the SMARTEST thing they could do is roll the sapphire operation into an Apple/GTAT JV, use Apple's money and GTAT's expertise. Run it like a big boy operation and not a school yard bully.
