#117749 RE: Dabears4 #117747

Dabears4: LaGrande...

Microsoft's NGSCB (Palladium) initiative using the Nexus was really a special, Microsoft centric, case of virtualization technology. But the industry, knowing what power position Microsoft would be in, rebelled to the NGSCB approach and instead started to concentrate on open virtualization technologies i.e. Xen

Intel's and AMD's virtualization technologies combined with LaGrande and AMD's equivalent really now present a solution that is open, not dominated by Microsoft and, moreover, is now rather similar to the ARM TrustZone architecture.

The TPM 1.2 serves as the root-of-trust for secure architectures using virtualization technology. Soft TPM instantiations are built temporarily for and within each virtualized application. Such a virtualized application can be a different OS or an incident of a secure execution application in a virtualized space...and that is a good thing for Wavoids!
