Bell, how do you explain the rise of BCAA 3:1:2 to #5 on the Top 50 charts with no promotion?

http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/top50.htm

At this point, the Combat Crunch bars have 270 reviews (in less than 2 months of being active on BodyBuilding.com) to the 190 reviews BCAA 3:1:2 have for being on the site for over 2 years. The only explanation is that the Top 50 is not as accurate of a current sales indicator as you state.

You have previously stated the Top 50 is manipulated by advertising dollars, so perhaps MusclePharm is finally learning to charge a premium for an exceptional product such as the Combat Crunch bars.

As an investor I'd rather sell 50,000 units at 60% margin, than 100,000 units at 30% margin.

Bell, have you ever bought these products? Because I have been for many years. I have a protein shake at 10, 4, and 9pm. If I can't find time to have a full meal I may eat a crunch bar. Now, the price per serving of the shake is less than the crunch, hense why, I opt to have more shakes than bars.

Now, I used to only get my combat whey from bb.com for 38 plus shipping and duties etc (I'm in canada). However, my local Costco now carries it. Now I buy it solely from costco. My point is you suggests it's cannibolization, when in reality, if someone is using the bars like I am the shakes, they would go broke fast and probably not obtain their fitness goals. They are meant for two different times and therefore should not be taking away much sales from eachother. The two times for the products being; morning, post workout and potentially prior to bed (in between large meals) and to replace a meal or as a sweet desert type of healthy snack (to fight away that craving you get daily when having a strict diet). The brackets are the products main reason to be taken or eaten.

Whey protein is an essential to any person athletic or just lifting or just trying to be healthy. They are not going to buy 36 servings per month of crunch and eat 3-4 a day. This isn't like any other companies you obviously know, because the products are not meant to be tangible and replace eachother 6 months down the road. They are a part of a meal plan or goal they have set. You can't apply mass psychology to this or your supposed crystal ball.

Bellator, The fact that Combat powder's ranking on BB.com fell, does not mean it is being cannibalized by combat crunch. You are correct in the fact that it provides "anecdotal evidence", but that isn't anything I would hang my hat on.
Anecdotal evidence is "non-scientific observations or studies, which do not provide proof but may assist research efforts." You have more research to do...

The real question would be what is the trend of company wide sales of combat powder from before the start and after the start of the launch of combat crunch.

Personally, I never tried a MP product before the combat crunch came out. With my order of combat crunch, I also ordered combat powder.

Cheers...
