"The newly posted study gives a fairly strong theory for REDUCEIT success and other huge indications"

Your statement is inaccurate. This study will have very little bearing on REDUCE-IT or other huge indications. Anyone who thinks it will does does not understand the paper.

The study pertains to a special circumstance, PCI, ie coronary intervention using catheters and the risk of heart attacks caused by the intervention. The study says nothing about the risk of CVD in the general population or in a secondary intervention group like REDUCE-IT.

The study was very small, only thirty patients per arm were fully studied. The authors admit they do not understand how statins or EPA mitigates the possibility of a post PCI MI.

It is possible to extrapolate from these iatrogenic MIs that EPA might offer some added protection from garden variety AMIs, both involve plaque rupture, and both involve platelets and inflammation. Unfortunately the way medical science works, this type of extrapolation is never accepted. Fortunately for us we do have very good studies that support REDUCE-IT. The most important are JELIS and population studies correlating AA/EPA ratios to CVD risk...
