Yes, spring and summer--September, too; September is really the Season for the Lakes Region--is better. Lake Como is utterly depressing in fall and winter.

"Was across from Belagio."

As I've posted before, I stayed a week at the Villa Serbelloni at Bellagio - that is the estate at the top of the hill at Bellagio. It is owned by the Rockefeller Foundation. I was at a week-long conference sponsored by the WHO and the Rockefeller Foundation.

My room was the second story of a small building right down by Lake Como - I could look out my window and see straight down into the water. Every morning, the estate sent down a van and a minibus to collect those of us staying down by the lake and ran us up to the main building at the top of the hill for breakfast and meeting.

It was great, all paid by the Rockefeller Foundation. Food was out of this world.

Sadly, I caught the flu and the symptoms started on my flight to Milan, so when I got to Bellagio, i felt like crap.

Other than that, it was a great and unique experience.
