It is a pretty cut throat industry. For more proof, see "Fargo". It's what I would do if I were Bayer. I would act friendly and then tell Peregrine (blinded by the potential big money looming around door #2) that we needed to thoroughly vet the IST data. Then, I'd send my biggest, baddest shark in a room with Yopp with a contract and a check for a million dollars that requires he delay releasing any information from the IST until Mid-2015 and give him 10 minutes to sign it before the offer was gone.
But I'm just mean like that. I'm sure big pharma is a lot more cordial.
