a) the company will be in the 100's of millions if GE does a contract with them so I wouldn't look at the price tag right now

That's my point. GE controls the outcome as they know if they will contract with Sigma or not. If I was GE, I wouldn't give Sigma a contract that will increase their value of the company 10 fold, if I can just buy them today. Not that buying Sigma is a bad thing, just not as good as letting the little company grow.
