They probably offered a future discount or priority once the new panels are released.

They will have to give a HUGE discount to get rid of a 200W panel when a 400W+ panel is available. I would have to add extra mounts, more installation costs wiring and take up more roof space.
This house was set with 44-175W panels.

Imagine how much they could have reduced their panel count, maybe 17 panels. They could have had all the panels on the garage. Or instead of having a 7.7KW system, they could have had a 20KW system... But then again, they have had 7 years of free electricity. 8 years by the time $LTD panels come out...

I feel that by the time they start the project....the 3d cell will be completed....and ready to rock and roll...you don't get that rich by not making great deals!!
