I would think we still have patent protection. Some of the experts can correct me but the patents are based on EPA and not specific to EPA derived from fish oil. Then you have the method of use patents. I would also think you would need to test whether you receive the same benefit from algae based EPA.

not sure about that, remember pharm grade processing is still required regardless of source

Algae itself doesn't produce 96% Pure EPA.... and then you have patents on packaging, and use for treating various medical conditions

so really not different, not even sure price will be lower... like any manufacturing process, it can take years for yield to be optimized
