Commercial viability is the key words in your post. Kroplin has been flying the prototype for over ten years, no? Been making enhancements since then, no?

So our group puts up a very similar aircraft will it make a difference? What superiority will our ship have over others that will make ours viable? Controls between segments? Really?

Not sure why this point get ignored. Will someone please correct my line of thinking here.

You are exactly right here on this point IMO, Insighter. Open Innovation is a strategy--a tool in the toolbox. To be an Open Innovation company is to be willing to use that approach or even default to it. But you also have to know when and how to withhold information for competitive advantage. As Tesla's move suggests, certain situations call for it. But a company that only did Open Innovation is probably a charity and not a business enterprise.

But there is an attitude of seeking to communicate, seeking to collaborate. IMO, and only my opinion, shareholders are not mushrooms--they are not more productive when you keep them in the dark and feed them bullsh*t. But building the collaboration with them is a complex challenge. I like your idea of large SHs on the board--not too many because that is a conservative, balancing play--but useful I think. You need to be able to take big risks for big multiples of returns. "He loves his fate too much or his reward is small, who will not put it to the touch to win or lose it all."

IMO Glenn has made a conscious decision to adjust the WSGI team in a way that could impact the company culture for 21st century competitiveness. It may be experimental or calculated but IMO he is not surprised by what he is getting in the new team he is building. As always, we will see.

Here is my bottom line about military and commercial viability/success for the Argus and her derivatives--it will depend on actual performance and relational connections. It has to DO things and the right people have to want to work with you to add it to their capabilities. If all you have is research IP then you will fire sale it to someone like Solara did with their high altitude gliders. Capabilities and connections--that is the magic sauce IMO. JMO. But Open Innovation and IP Protectiveness are a continuum IMO that you slide on as dictated by contextual need. Your little secret sauce aphorism captures that well I think. Just glad we are talking about open communication and open innovation here--it feels much more 21st century. Thank you. Sincerely, IJO
