Second article basically says that only long trials which record more then 500 events should be considered for unblinding

Just my quick read but it looks like JL's idea of of an early end of the trial is feasible

JUPITER was scheduled for 5 years. No way at less than 2 years would it meet a "scheduled time"...They just stopped it the same way (but for opposite reasons) they stopped the Trig studies.
