Don't think Mike knew them personally prior. Mike is only the CEO so the debt is not his personally. The 5M in debt creates a challenge to most real businessman. I personally would love to be thrown into that. That would be the ultimate challenge.
He has created a viable pathway to revenues regardless of the sector. They could call GDSM a detergent co. As long as they will earn money their actual venue has no bearing. It does make sense to get into the sector. Oil and gold is underground. You don't know if it is there until you search. Even then you may come up empty handed.
But pot on the other hand is right there in front of you. Whether it is the people who use it, the products they use to partake, or possibly in the end the actual product itself. You know as well as I that in the end the sector will be worth billions. GDSM has long way to go but is on the right path. They are addressing the people now. They are on the way to addressing the distributors to sell to their market. A store is to released on the site. You yourself can market and earn cash. Sure seems like a lot of positive catalysts to me.
So while the price may falter some, in the end it will return and return with a vengeance. If that is a year I'm all good with it. My money is parked. So perhaps you might be warning a day trader but I think most are here for the long term. As well as you seem to be.
