I see nothing but praise for Pentium-M and its line which continues with private posts on other sites which kind of makes a nonsense of your blanket statement.

As for Itanium that processor and its concept has over promised and under delivered for well over a decade. It still sells less than the processor it was designed to directly replace, PA-Risc. It now would have had a 10% clock increase in 3 years which will stretch to 4 in 2007 ! Do you think an x86 processor could get away with that and still not be dropped ? Quite frankly it has deservered its abuse, perhaps Intel should not have blown its trumpet so loud at the start and promised its competitors they had no future !
