Does this suggest AMD is doing something illegal? Remeber we are talking FREE Intel processors! Just swap Intel for AMD...
IMHO, I think most AMD supporters will tell you that that it's ok for AMD to do this, because they are not a monopoly, but for Intel to do it, then it's illegal. I don't really know where the fine line exists, or whether these anecdotes should even be taken seriously, but given that AMD is crowing about their customer's perception so much, it's hard to believe they will have any real case to present to a judge when all is said and done. In other words, as we have all suspected here for quite some time, it is no doubt a play produced by AMD on a stage that is the semi-conductor industry. They are trying to become famous, even if that means becoming infamous in the beginning. After all, Intel's fame is partially attributed to the Pentium FDIV fiasco. Some think that if Intel didn't become such a media icon in that era, that they would have never become as well known as they are today. I think AMD is hoping that, even if they win or lose, they will have still gotten the public's attention.
