Great post! I was going to mow the lawn but decided to chase the rabbit down this hole "hybrid propulsion system similar to types presently under development by the USAF"

Long paper but interesting read on some of the hybrid propulsion systems being developed

ANALYSIS OF HYBRID-ELECTRIC PROPULSION SYSTEM DESIGNS FOR
SMALL UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS

"Three distinct parallel hybrid-electric system designs, each with three unique battery discharging profiles, were analyzed and compared using a constrained static optimization formulation based upon traditional aircraft design equations. Each system combined an ICE sized for cruise speed with an electric motor sized for endurance speed. The nine hybrid variations were
compared using a typical five hour intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance mission profile for a UAS with a maximum gross takeoff weight of 13.6 kg (30.0 lbf)."

Looking at the recent acquisitions, I think that the Argus would benefit from a solar component. Does it have that ability yet? Actually, a few years ago I came across a patent for a graphene solar cells and also a graphene thin material chip which enabled ALL DAY energy generation derived from the micro differences in temperature.

Perhaps an energy component is needed to keep flying for years and years without a need to come back down, and that is hence thinking behind the recent acquisitions.

One would think Glenn with his special ability for M&A type work would be able to spin off the Argues as another company and then merge or sell that to Google in the future for a billion dollars. Haha That would certainly be sweet! ;)

Hi Montanar, not so sure why IJO isn't posting here at the moment but hope we haven't lost his input. The USAF propulsion mention in the 10K is very interesting. Have found a couple of links associated with CUE and the propulsion system below, not sure if these were posted up before. It's also nice to see Jieddo moving forward with a full time Ltas BIB instructor training folks, hopefully an order follows soon. Wouldn't mind reading an 8K filing stating Felicia received her $210K for completing the Jieddo Bib requirements.
