Since statins increase Arachidonic Acid, the arm of REDUCE-IT without EPA will see increased AA/EPA (or decreased EPA/AA) ratio compared to the Vascepa arm of 4 Grams of EPA, which should be sufficient to overcome the influence of AA production by statins.

Jesse, All the woman in the trial where postmenopausal women, aged =75 years with serum total cholesterol =250 mg/dL were eligible for the study. I remember the someone during ADCOM or an article mentioned the trial was not balanced because more women where enrolled. I have to disagree with with whoever said this, because the female patients in the trial where quite a bit older than the male patients enrolled. In effect balancing out the trial enrollment by sex/age.
