The only film from this list that seems overtly mainstream is "The Notebook." If you mean to imply that "Yellow" is too artsy and has a niche audience, then I would have to disagree. A movie that appears to have a similar jive to "Yellow" that was recently released was "The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty" and it grossed $58.2 million at the box office alone. Also, the main character in "Yellow" is an adult woman with mental/emotional issues and painted in an unconventional spotlight so I bet women will go flocking to this film and bring with them their boyfriends/husbands.


"Someone else posted similar information but I wanted to make a new post. This is the box office and worldwide revenues for Nick Cassavetes' most noteworthy films. It is interesting to note that Nick Cassavetes films hover around 50% for the critics meter on Rotten Tomatoes (except for John Q.) I have mildly high expectations for Yellow and looking at these numbers, I think a minimum of $30,000,000 worldwide is very reasonable.


The Notebook

The film premiered June 25, 2004, in the United States and Canada and grossed $13.5 million in 2,303 theaters its opening weekend, ranking number 4 at the box office. The film grossed a total of $115.6 million worldwide, $81 million in Canada and the United States and $34.6 million in other countries. It is the 12th highest-grossing romantic drama film of all time.

My Sister's Keeper

In its opening weekend it placed 5th with a total of $12,442,212, behind Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, The Proposal (second weekend), The Hangover (fourth weekend), and Up (fifth weekend). The film left theaters on October 8, 2009 with a domestic total of $49,200,230 with a further $46,459,927 from foreign markets. It has grossed $95,660,157 worldwide.

Alpha Dog

During its opening weekend, Alpha Dog grossed $6,412,775 and was #7 at the box office. The film closed on February 22, 2007 after grossing $15,309,602 domestically, and totaled $32,145,115 worldwide over its six-week release.

John Q.

The film opened in first place at the box office, taking $23,275,194 during its first weekend. It ended up with a total domestic gross of $71,026,631 and $102,244,770 worldwide.
