Just my two cents here---
Most people including you talk of only two postions that trading/investing allow: Fear or Greed.

Fear = no opportunity to gain.

Greed = opportunity to gain.

If everyone insists fear is the motivating factor when people sell to prevent further loss or take profits to prevent any loss well, that is really just Greed. If everyone insists holding until the oxygen runs out is Greed, or selling at the highest pps you possibly can, or selling to prevent a loss or precieved loss...well those are really just Greed.

So in the end the only emotion that matters in investing/trading is GREED.

Do not be ashamed of your inner greed, the desire to accumulate wealth and SECURITY is nothing to be ashamed of. No matter what the prevailing political/moral (eh hem...Obama) winds whisper in your ears.
