NOK and other contract timing ...

Good CC overall, eps predicted by Ronnie et., al., consistent with 10K as to Ericy revenue recognition, etc. so not a surprise to the folks on this board. Good confidence displayed on business matters.

As to timing of pending contracts Sharp, Nok, and Samsung my inferences are as follows:

Sharp:
* We heard guidance that Q2 will have same licensee base as Q1, which implies that Sharp will be included in Q2;
* We heard very good confidence that Sharp will renew;
* IMO, the Sharp renewal might be the snack that IDCC tosses shareholders to help promote passage of 5M more option shares at the ASM; The NOK/Samsung full meal will wait until later.

NOK/Samsung:
* Nok and Samsung are apparently tied at the hip since "Samsung has the same rights as NOK";
* Therefore NOK will happen first and set the deal for Samsung;
* I thought we heard “process we put in place” which implies IDCC is in the driver’s seat as to timing to conclude the deal with NOK;
* The time frame set by IDCC is 2003 for an "amicable" resolution or 2004 in the case of arbitration;
* "trim around the edges" - I should get a royalty on that phrase - LOL:

"Nok .. will probably want to trim around the edges if possible."
* This trimming by the lawyers probably has to do with the product definitions, payment terms, etc., all normal detailed issues, however, we did think such legal "blanks" were already filled in but apparently they are not.
* So, as to timing for NOK (and thereby Samsung), with the 5M share potential PERSONAL windfall on the line at the ASM, management might be expected to not complete the NOK deal until after the ASM so the new option shares, if approved, may be granted before the Nok deal is competed by the end of 2003.
* As we all expect, the NOK deal will certainly drive the share price, and as you know about my expectations as to human behavior, I don't think management is motivated yet to drive the share price until AFTER the question of their personal windfall is resolved;
* If IDCC is truly in the driver’s seat on timing and the only issues are trims, why else would they set the end of 2003 to complete NOK amicably?
* So, I do not expect NOK will be done before the ASM. However, if the 5M shares is denied (my hope), then I do think NOK can be completed sooner since we won't have to wait until the new options are actually granted.

All my opinion.
