Solvonis Therapeutics eyes completion of Awakn acquisition following transformative 2024

Solvonis Therapeutics PLC CEO Anthony Tennyson talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's transformation and its strategy moving into 2025. Tennyson explained that the company, formerly known as Graft Polymer, exited its industrial plastics business in 2024 to focus entirely on biotechnology, particularly mental health and addiction treatments. "These are segments which have large addressable markets, poor current standards of care and therefore significant unmet medical needs," he said. He outlined how the company raised £1.8 million in mid-2024 to support its new growth strategy, which includes partnerships, joint ventures, and acquisitions. A central part of this strategy is the pending acquisition of Awakn Life Sciences, a clinical-stage biotech company focused on alcohol use disorder (AUD) and PTSD. Solvonis is acquiring Awakn in an all-paper deal valued between £3 million and £5 million. Tennyson said this represented significant value, highlighting that similar assets could command substantially higher valuations. Awakn’s AWKN-001, targeting severe AUD, is in phase 3 trials in the UK and EU. AWKN-002, for the US market, has received FDA support for a faster 505(b)(2) development pathway, allowing the use of Johnson & Johnson’s SPRAVATO® data to accelerate progress. Tennyson said the top priority for 2025 is closing and integrating the acquisition and executing on the clinical programs. Hive Digital Technologies completes 100 MW phase 1 in Paraguay

Hive Digital Technologies Chief Financial Officer Darcy Daubaras joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce a major milestone: the 100% completion of Phase 1 infrastructure at the company’s flagship Yguazù data center in Paraguay. This 100-megawatt (MW), air-cooled facility is backed by a fully energized 200 MW substation, positioning HIVE for substantial growth in its global digital infrastructure operations. Daubaras confirmed that the completed infrastructure enables up to 5 exahash per second (EH/s) of capacity for next-generation ASIC miners. Currently, HIVE is running 200 petahashes of hashrate at the Yguazù site using its proprietary BUZZ Miners, with an expected ramp-up to 8,000 units online by the end of April. Adding to this momentum, the company has begun receiving shipments of new-generation ASICs, including the powerful Bitmain S21+ miners. More than 20,000 units are expected to arrive before the end of May, fueling HIVE’s ambitious goal to scale to 5 EH/s in Paraguay and 11.5 EH/s total across all global operations by the end of Q2 2025. As part of its operational scale-up in Latin America, HIVE also announced a key leadership addition: Carlos Anibal Torres has joined as Paraguay Operations & Project Manager. Torres brings strategic expertise to support HIVE’s accelerated buildout and operational management in the region. With the 100 MW Phase 1 infrastructure now fully constructed and energized, the company has begun racking and powering miners, signaling the official launch of what is expected to be one of the most significant expansions in HIVE’s history. Optima Health CEO on Congate acquisition and growth strategy

Optima Health PLC chief executive Jonathan Thomas talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's acquisition of Ireland-based Cognate Health. Lisata Therapeutics CMO discusses potential for certepetide under Catalent license agreement

Lisata Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:LSTA) chief medical officer Dr Kristen Buck discussed the company's newly-announced research license agreement with Catalent with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion. Buck shared insights into Lisata’s preclinical evaluation of certepetide using Catalent’s SMARTag antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) platform..
