PKI only because the use of TPMs by the enterprise for hardware (TPM)-secured device/user authentication to network resources requires the use of PKI certificates (private keys stored in TPM). Naturally if PKI certs are to be used for devices equipped with TPMs, then the IT dept. wants one common certificate-based implementation for all their network access devices not just those with TPMs. This is where external authentication tokens have had an advantage over TPMs. They can be used from any device including smartphones. Once TPM or TPM-like capability is available on smartphones Wave will finally be able to offer the customer one common ERAS-managed solution across all devices not just PCs that have TPMs.
