Very nice post BB1.

My personal opinion is that it all roots back to human nature. People simply want to believe what they want to believe thus, it takes very little persuasion from either unscrupulous or purely ignorant individuals to reinforce or introduce faulty beliefs. I doubt that it will ever end.
