- I love the part about "in-body surgical devices" - like it's going to the supermarket to buy a carton of eggs or quart of milk. But then again, that whole hip replacement mess was because the FDA granted fast-track approval based on the design was "substantially similar" to what was "already" out there. I guess the FDA ignored the testing that resulted in shavings getting into the patients' blood streams, but then again, they were hamstrung by some congressman or woman who thought it was a good idea to create a loophole that "companies have to show only that their devices resemble ones already on the market, and they are not required to conduct clinical studies before selling them."
