You conveniently left out the fact that IDCC's litigation risks severely hampered its ability to compete for talent or raise capital. Sure it is so easy now to look back and second guess, but the fact of the matter is that IDCC had to sweeten the pot to get the employees to secure and support the Nokia engineering contract and to keep on updating its patent portfolio to improve its 3G negotiating position. The latter point is often misunderstood by people who think that all patents are created equal.
