All the companies that tried to get to the stratosphere in a single bound have failed to come up with a militarily viable/commercially viable technology--all of them. IMO the intermediate step of tropospheric RPV/autonomous flight was left out. It takes a nation a decade to build the skills to operate a viable carrier task force. Many complex endeavors are like that. The WSGI team has the expertise among its various partners to accomplish the intermediate step of MALE operations IMO--not easily but viably IMO. I believe the challenges of trop/strato transition have been underestimated. It is nice to tackle one set of complexities at a time. Master one before you proceed to the other IMO. But for that you need DoD or deep IRAD pockets. IMO do the one and you get the other. Tortoise and the hare to the stratosphere is my analogy--be nice to see who wins. Also, you very liberally paraphrased my true content--I answered what I believe to be the intent of your question anyway. Best regards, IJO
