Re: Since Conroe needs a new VRM which precludes it from existing 775 MBs even if, the chipset can support it, the same is likely true with Merom. The Napa chipset may support it, but the current VRMs will not. Thus Merom will not be a "drop in" replacement.

Interesting logic: if the VRM thing is true for Conroe and if Merom has the same problem, thus Merom will not be "drop in" replacement. Is English a second language for you, or did you intentionally use "thus" to definitively claim that Merom is not backwards compatible with current chipset infrastructure?
